Probably the most relaxing performance in the world

Hosted in a light hearted manner, by the composer

himself, this 60 minute one set recital of original

instrumental compositions features the

unaccompanied flute & saxophone of Pete Lowe

and a musical style based on his success in writing

music for films and TV.

  The Music

The traditional sound and texture of real instruments played in a jazz idiom is combined with formal music structure that is skillfully arranged into a single unaccompanied melody line and performed live in this truly organic production.

None of the music is performed ad-lib. All that you hear is carefully arranged giving each note throughout the recital a specific reason to be played.

However, other aspects such as phrasing, accents, tempo and the whole interpretation and feel of each piece is tailored to the specific performance and audience, making each performance an individual and one-off occasion.

The Production

The production is not a Tribute Act. So if you have not been to one of Pete's recitals before then all that you see and hear will probably be new to you.

The performance is live and although a sound system and lighting rig is used no backing tracks, pitch rectifiers or any other form of electronic correction is used.

Quite simply, if the power goes off the music may become a little quieter.

During the recital you may become aware of the key noise of the instruments as well as the breathing of the performer. Although both are natural sounds in a live performance, these sounds are often removed in many commercial recordings.

The recital and CD Parallel Lines contain both of these natural sounds.

The Music Style

Pete Lowe composes and arranges his music in a traditional way placing the original conception of these pieces firmly in the classical world.

Although performed in a jazz idiom the music contains no improvised section normally associated with the jazz style.

Performed on solo wind instruments and especially the flute may create the impression that there is some connection with folk music, however the compositions are all modern and have no traditional background.
